Trump ME Plan 2025
Publication date: 2025-02-08

Can the Donald Trump Gaza Peace Plan End the Middle East Conflict?

The idea of the USA taking control of Gaza after the present ceasefire has come to an end, all the Israeli hostages released, Hamas destroyed, and all the Gazans re-settled in Jordan, Egypt and possibly other countries which emerged out of the joint Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu press conference at the Oval Office on February 4, 2025 and Pete Hegseth's discussion with Benjamin Netanyahu at the Pentagon on February 4, 2025 is not the first Donald Trump attempt to end the Middle East Conflict. But the first Donald Trump proposed plan failed.

The idea of re-settling the Palestinian Arabs outside of Palestine to be replaced by European Jews is not new either. At the time of the British Mandate some Arab lands and houses were bought by European Jews, and those who sold settled successfully in Central America. But such sales stopped after the violent and forced displacement of some 700,000 Palestinian Arabs in 1947/48. Today after 75+ years of oppression and over a year of slaughter and destruction the will of the Gazans to stay in Palestine is stronger than it has ever been.

Will the new Donald Trump peace plan succeed to end the conflict for good, and what will happen once it proceeds to its implementation?

B. Netanyahu said: "I support getting all the hostages out, and meeting all our war goals. That includes destroying Hamas's military and governing capabilities and making sure that Gaza never poses a threat to Israel again. All three." He also spoke about Gazans leaving Gaza "voluntarily".

This suggests that the present ceasefire is likely to last till all the Israeli hostages are released.

Then Israel will issue order for the Gazans to "leave voluntarily" to allow Israel to destroy Hamas.

Then Israel would resume destroying Hamas using the 2,000 lb bombs already supplied by the USA, and all those who have failed to "leave voluntarily" will again be dying amid the rubble.

How many will leave "voluntarily" and where will they go?

If some Arab countries are forced to accept the expellees, the expellees will continue their struggle to return to Palestine and they will have support of the population of all the countries of the area and even outside of it.

That is, the conflict will continue.

But Gaza is not the only conflict area. The other area is the West Bank. The importance of the West Bank goes beyond Palestine and the neighbouring Arab countries. Jerusalem (al-Quds) is important to all Muslims around the world. The Hamas Operation Al-Aqsa Flood of October 7, 2023, was named after the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, which is as sacred to the Muslims as the Wailing Wall to the Jews.

There are also still refugee camps in the Arab countries neighbouring Israel. The inmates of these camps still have not given up hope of return to the lands and houses from which they were expelled in 1947/48. Forcibly removing them has not ended the conflict.

So it is not enough to de-populate and re-develop Gaza, the West Bank issue will also need to be resolved to end the conflict for good.

Donald Trump was elected for 4 years. How will his plan affect the prospects of him being elected again?

Promises to end the Gaza massacre and the Ukraine War were two major reasons for Donald Trump being elected. Even mere announcement of this plan has caused many of those who voted for Donald Trump to speak against it. Will they vote for Donald Trump again, if his ME plan turns out to be another man-made disaster?

But what are the alternatives to this plan?

There is the Arab Peace Plan which is supported by all the Arab states, but is rejected by Israel. And as long as it is rejected by Israel and Israel is supported by the USA, it cannot be implemented.

And in 2005, there was proposed a plan to re-settle all the Palestinians in the USA and payment to them of compensation for all the crimes committed against them.

But, the failure to end the conflict up to now has led to the Hamas raid, and the Israeli response and all the deaths and destruction caused by it.

And the new Donald Trump plan will not end the conflict, but will make the need for a real solution still more obvious.
